Technical Capabilities — Deep Dive

MTK BROM Operations

The MTK module connects to the MediaTek Boot ROM (BROM) which is a hard-coded ROM in every MTK chipset. When the device enters BROM mode (by grounding a specific test point or USB timing exploit), the tool sends a Download Agent (DA) to the device RAM. Once the DA is running:

Full flash memory access: Read/write any partition (boot, recovery, system, userdata, nvdata, nvram, protect1, protect2, frp)
NVRAM direct edit: Read and modify NVRAM data containing IMEI, WiFi MAC, Bluetooth MAC, unlock status, and calibration data
Auth bypass: For newer secured MTK devices (MT6771+) that require Download Agent Authentication (DAA), Sigma includes bypass methods that allow DA loading without manufacturer authorization
Format/Reset: Selective or full format — erase userdata only (factory reset) or full chip erase (clean flash)

Qualcomm EDL Operations

Similar to other Qualcomm-capable tools, the Qualcomm module loads a signed firehose programmer into the device in EDL 9008 mode, then sends XML commands for partition operations. Sigma maintains its own firehose loader database covering hundreds of Qualcomm device variants.

How to Use Sigma Plus: Step-by-Step

Purchase Sigma Box/Key and desired module activations from Code-GSM
Download Sigma Software from sigmakey.com and install
Connect Sigma Box/Key via USB — software detects the hardware and shows activated modules
Select the module matching your device's chipset: MTK, Qualcomm, Samsung, Huawei, ZTE, Motorola, or Broadcom
Connect the phone in the required mode:
- MTK module: BROM mode (power off → hold Vol Up → plug USB)
- QC module: EDL (9008) or Diag mode
- Samsung module: Download mode (Vol Down + Power)
Click "Connect" or "Detect" — Sigma identifies the model and chipset
